The European Parliament and Council have reached a provisional agreement on new rules to reduce road transport emissions for passenger cars, vans, buses, trucks and trailers.

MEPs have agreed with the levels proposed by the European Commission for pollutant emissions (such as nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, and ammonia) for passenger cars and have proposed an additional breakdown of emissions into three categories for light commercial vehicles based on their weight.
