Stena Line adds extra Christmas Eve sailings

The last few weeks have been a challenging time for ferry operators on the Irish Sea with the prolonged closure of the ferry berths at Holyhead Port due to damage caused by Storm Darragh and yesterday’s (Sun 22nd Dec) enforced sailing cancellations due to severe weather conditions.

To try and alleviate the build-up of freight and passenger traffic at ports, Stena Line has added an extra sailing, 23.30hrs from both Belfast and Cairnryan on 24th December. Stena Line currently has very limited space available on its earlier Christmas Eve sailings – 03:30hrs, 07:30hrs, 11:30hrs, 15:30hrs with more availability on the 19:30hrs sailings.

Stena Line Trade Director Paul Grant said: “We understand how challenging the last few weeks have been for many of our customers, and we want to thank them for their patience and understanding during this challenging time. Recent weather and operational challenges have led to significant disruptions across our Irish Sea route network and for that we sincerely apologise.

Paul Grant added: “Our colleagues have worked around the clock to assist anyone who still needs to travel, and I am pleased to confirm we have added an extra 23:30hrs sailing on Christmas Eve from both Belfast and Cairnryan. We sincerely appreciate and thank everyone for their support and patience during what has been a very difficult few weeks across all our Irish Sea routes.”

Stena Line bookings can be made online at stenaline.co.uk and stenaline.ie or via our Contact Centre by calling from the UK on +44 344 770 7070 or from ROI on + 353 1 907 5555.
