Gardai are taking roads policing to a new level with the addition of an unmarked HGV tractor unit.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris has confirmed that an unmarked HGV will be added to the fleet in a road safety initiative.
Commissioner Harris said the HGV tractor unit will enable Gardaí to see into the cabs of lorries and also look down on motorists for signs of distracted driving.
The HGV will be used to detect people texting and using their phones while driving, among other offences.
