The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 has been named the International Truck of the Year 2025.
It was honoured for the performance of its powertrain, which is based on two 400 kW electric motors on the electric axle and three LFP battery packs of 207 kWh each, enabling a range of more than 500 kilometres without recharging.
The win for Mercedes-Benz marks only the second time in the award’s 48-year history that a zero-emission truck has claimed this title.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the eActros 600 for the long-haul is ready and heralds a new era in the transport industry.
With 88 votes, the German truck manufacturer’s heavy-duty battery electric vehicle (BEV) beat competition from Volvo Trucks’ Aero range with electric or conventional power-trains and the Iveco S-eWay electric tractor.
It is worth repeating, as the judges saw for themselves, with over 600 kWh of installed capacity, a standard 40-tonne tractor-semi-trailer combination can achieve a range of over 500 kilometres without intermediate recharging. That is impressive and a game changer.
