FTA Ireland calls for new tax measures to moderate fuel costs

FTA Ireland CEO, Aidan Flynn featured on RTE Radio 1 this week and spoke about the implications of increased cost of fuel for the distribution sector.

Speaking on the Morning Ireland programme. Mr Flynn said that is essential that freight distribution businesses must be supported through new tax measures that moderate the increased cost of fuel and support transition to alternative fuels.

He also called for a review of the Diesel Rebate Programme, and said that Excise Duty on HVO needs to be reduced to bring it into line with road diesel.

Mr Flynn also called for the introduction of a scrappage scheme to assist the upgrade to newer Euro VI vehicles.
