committee hits out over Dublin's traffic congestion
A high powered Dail committee has hit out at state agencies
over their failure to tackle crippling gridlock in the Capital
The Oireachtas Committee on Transport has warned that there
is a lack of urgency and co-ordination among official organisations
charged with keeping the city moving. The group has has unveiled
a plan stating that bus use should be increased in the capital
before rail and light rail projects are rolled out.
The recommendations include allowing buses to use the Port
Tunnel and adding 350 buses, on a sub-contract basis to the
Bus Eireann fleet.
