IRU
meets with French Transport Minister
A high level delegation from the International Road Transport
Union (IRU) has met with French Secretary of State in charge
of Transport, Dominique Bussereau, who chairs the EU Transport
Council of Ministers for the next six months, to discuss the
IRU's transport priorities as well as those of the French
Presidency. In what has been described as a "fruitful
exchange" the IRU laid out its position on the current
fuel price crisis and possible solutions to be implemented
at national, EU, global and industry level.
The IRU explained its position on the Eurovignette Directive
and the internalisation of external costs. The IRU says it
will now pursue positive dialogue with Bussereau with the
view to effectively address mutual priority issues.
